dominos

When it comes to tinkering with the ingredients of success, will Domino’s Pizza be best served taking a marketing communications lesson from New Coke – or some advice from Burger King, the South Florida chain that resurrected its iconic King in a way some viewers found kind of weird?

The Ann Arbor, Michigan-based pizza chain has announced it is changing its recipe. More than simply tweaking its flavor, the company is inviting reviews from food critics, bloggers and others certain to flood the social media ether with comments – tasty and otherwise.

As the the Tiger Woods scandal continued to widen hour-by-hour after his now-infamous car accident, several media sources were seeking out communications professionals to comment on the golfer’s handling the crisis. South Florida Public Relations Agency, Boardroom Communications, Executive Vice President Todd Templin was recently interviewed on the Tiger Woods situation on WFOR-TV, Channel 4 in Miami, Florida. Instead of getting in front of what could (should) have been a non-story, his name – from a reputation management perspective – is as bent as the bumper on his Escalade.

Tiger Woods has lived a storied life – on the golf course and in the public arena. His father groomed Woods from an early age, helping him master his game on the course – and with appearances with the likes of Merv Griffin. He’s earned near-countless trophies and a billion in earnings and endorsements.

So how is it that the current story of Woods’ “accident” outside his Orlando, Florida-area home has spun so wildly out of his – and his handlers’ – control? (more…)
