South Florida Public Relations & Marketing Firm Campaign Reaches Area’s Jewish Donors

Always known for effective public relations and marketing, Boardroom Communications this month won a coveted Addy Award for a television commercial it created for the Jewish Federation of Broward County.

The Silver Addy, from the Advertising Federation of Greater Fort Lauderdale, was for Boardroom’s “Lend a Helping Hand” campaign. The TV spot depicts how the Jewish Federation helps and supports more than 30 Jewish agencies throughout Broward County. It then invites those who need help to call, as well as those who can help to give.

Dozens of faces of those in need were melded into a “mosaic” forming hands that ultimately transform to create a “Chai” – the Hebrew symbol for “Life.”

“The advertising campaign’s goal was to help create brand awareness among area Jews, to help them discover the role and services of the Federation, and spur giving to the Federation and the area organizations it helps support,” said Eric B. Stillman, the Federation’s President and CEO.

The spot aired on local broadcast and cable TV outlets from November 2009 through February 2010, culminating in the Jewish Federation’s “Super Sunday” annual fundraiser.

To create and air the spot, Boardroom worked with JL Media to research viewing habits of area Jews. Findings revealed that media dollars would best be spent on television, especially during the morning on NBC6 and The Today Show. The firm collaborated with Alan Levy with The Global NewsGroup and Dave Kustin with Element-M to create the spot.

“The spot successfully spoke to Jews from Hallandale to Parkland, Weston to the beaches,” said Julie Talenfeld, President of Boardroom Communications. “It was professionally satisfying to be acknowledged for this TV commercial, and personally rewarding to know our work helped make a difference in the local Jewish community.”

“Boardroom handles all PR, marketing and advertising for the Federation, and is happy to support this important non-profit,” added Talenfeld.
