On Tuesday, May 22, the South Florida City Group of the Legal Marketing Association, Southeast Chapter will be hosting a meeting on an important topic affecting law firms and legal marketers, 11 ways to improve business development. The meeting, graciously hosted by Hunton & Williams, is being held at 1111 Brickell Avenue, Suite 2500.
William J. Flannery, J.D. with The WJF Institute, will cover topics ranging from face-to-face business development to the implementation of worldwide global client-focused teams. This presentation is unique and focuses on best practices from corporate sales, marketing and global account management to show what law firms can learn from their clients.
Bill’s presentation is the collective knowledge of 40 years in business development, sales, marketing and global account management. This presentation is designed for firms of all sizes, geographic locations and practice areas. Bill has worked with 136 of the AMLAW 200 and law practices ranging from boutiques to sole practitioners to the very largest.

The 10th Annual Florida’s Children First (FCF) Broward Awards reception raised over $100,000 and drew more than 250 community and business leaders, judges, elected officials and more to the event to sponsor the states foster, neglected and abused children. On Monday, March 5, 2012, Margaux’s Miracle Foundation is hosting its Sixth Annual Women’s Luncheon at La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach.
At the luncheon, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz will receive the prestigious “Woman of the Year” award and special guest speaker Dr. Leslie Baumann, a nationally renowned board certified dermatologist, New York Times best-selling author, media personality and lecturer, will discuss the latest in new innovation skin care and therapy.
Boardroom Communications is proud to sponsor Margaux’s Miracle Foundation—President Julie Talenfeld is on the Board of Directors and Vice President Jennifer Clarin serves as the Board’s secretary.
The event begins with a shopping bazaar at 9:30 a.m., followed by Dr. Baumann’s presentation at 11 a.m. and a noon lunch. Proceeds from the luncheon will go toward cancer research for children, with special emphasis on sarcomas, specifically, Ewing’s sarcoma.

On January 13th our client, Fitness 54 celebrated their greatly anticipated grand opening at the Weston Town Center. The highly attended party could be seen from miles away as huge rotating spot lights out front shot beams high into the sky. The fun started with a high-energy dance routine to LMFAO’s popular hit “Party Rock Anthem” and then continued inside Fitness 54 throughout the night. Waitresses walked around sampling the new Fit 54 food, while guests took personalized tours with trainers around the cutting edge facility.

The holidays created a time for giving. On New Year’s Eve, we reflected on past mistakes and resolved to be better for 2012.
Here at Boardroom, the protocol of the season got us thinking about the protocol of networking. When we network, our objective is simple — we want something.
But the holidays remind us that relationships, networking ones too, are about a give-and-take exchange. Remembering that spirit of the season, forget about what you can get out of the relationship. Focus on what you have to give.
Here’s a simple tip that can help you revamp your networking strategies, whether on the web or at the next annual New Year’s cocktail party: be interested, not interesting. Yes, keep your business card in tow; but rather than focus on yourself, really listen to the other person.
The best networks are those of mutual benefits where everybody wins. It’s time to tap in! Find out what makes the other person tick. Sincerely inquire on how you can help foster and support their needs.
That’s our New Year’s resolution.
So here’s to making 2012 a time of giving and connecting, whether it be in our networks of co-workers, family or friends.
