Gilda’s Club, a nonprofit agency, is named in honor of comedian Gilda Radner – one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live – who died of ovarian cancer in 1989 at the age of 42. The agency creates welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer – men, women, teens, and children, along with their caregivers, families, and friends. The clubs innovative program is an essential complement to medical care, providing support groups, healthy lifestyle workshops, educational programs, and social activities.
In order to drive donations, the organization developed a program with Over the Edge, whereby people raise money by generating donations for their rappelling down the side of B Ocean Hotel. BoardroomPR produced major media for this special event, including TV news, print media, blogs, and write ups. There was significant pre-event publicity, live radio news, video tape, and tremendous post event photos and coverage.
