Ron Bergeron Leads Florida gubernatorial candidate on Everglades tour
Alligator Ron Bergeron took GOP Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Ron DeSantis on an airboat tour of the Florida Everglades and discussed the historical and current critical restoration efforts taking place. Bergeron, a former Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioner and champion of the Florida Everglades, talked about the Modified Waters project designed to restore the natural flow of water from the northern Everglades to Florida Bay and minimize the unnatural discharges from the Caloosahatchee, Saint Lucie and Indian River Lagoon impacting estuaries in the Gulf & Atlantic.
“The Everglades is one of the great natural wonders of the world that affects the drinking water and economy of millions of Floridians,” said Bergeron. “Ron DeSantis has shown great interest in making sure we do everything we can to ensure a full and robust effort to restore the Everglades to full health. I am honored to be part of the team that is helping to educate Ron DeSantis on this very important mission.”
