May 1, 2017
For 20 years, the South Florida Business Journal has been honoring South Florida’s most influential companies at the Business of the Year Awards. This year’s honorees featured a diverse group of leading organizations that represented the best of what South Florida’s business community has to offer.
As noted by the South Florida Business Journal, “this year’s honorees account for billions of dollars in combined revenue, tens of thousands of jobs, and immeasurable investment in area arts, cultural and other essential philanthropic efforts.” They’re model organizations that, together, fuel the economy, provide high-wage jobs and growth opportunities, and improve the overall area.
On Thursday, April 27, this year’s Business of the Year Awards ceremony was held at Jungle Island in Miami where more than 250 gathered to honor 10 companies including Boardroom South Florida public relations clients e-Builder and The Keyes Company, a non-profit and Miami-Dade College president, Eduardo Padron, for their success.
E-Builder won the $25 to $50 Million in Revenues award. 22 years ago, e-Builder started as a cloud-based company. Today, the company’s software is being used to manage $300 billion in active construction projects. E-Builder has found success by improving project outcomes, while itself building on a history of solid financial metrics such as revenue growth of 25 to 35 percent over the past decade, as well as increasing profits – with little to no debt.
The Keyes Company was recognized as the Family Owned Business of the year. The company was founded in 1926 by Ken Keyes and was acquired by Ted Pappas in the 1960s. In 1992, Ted’s sons, Mike and Tim Pappas, took over the company and have continued incorporating long-standing family values with a people-first philosophy. The Keyes Company / Illustrated Properties is the largest residential real estate brokerage in the state of Florida producing almost $6 billion in real estate sales and related services. The Keyes Company has 29 offices throughout South Florida and is a founding member and shareholder of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.
