Julie Talenfeld is the Founder and CEO of BoardroomPR, which she founded in 1989.

The firm was named “PR Agency of the Year” by Public Relations Society of America’s Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter and has consistently been ranked by the South Florida Business Journal as one of the top 10 largest. The firm is also consistently included in the SFBJ’s Top 25 Women-Owned Businesses, and Top Corporate Givers.

Julie has extensive experience in social and digital media marketing and reputation management, having led assignments with major corporations, non-profits and family businesses in over 10 industries around the country for three decades. She’s seen as a staunch brand ambassador for her clients and a well-connected source of invaluable business introductions. She also has launched and operates three unique Facebook pages, delivering heightened coverage for clients in the legal and real estate industries and as the de facto “mayor” of Plantation, Fla and Aspen, Co.

Julie won The South Florida Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award and was honored as the JAFCO Woman of Valor. She received The University of Florida Distinguished Alumni Award alongside CNN reporter Sarah Sidner and the VP of Nielsen.

Julie is an Ambassador for the Holocaust Museum of South Florida and remains a strong advocate for female founders state and nation-wide. She is also the recipient of the Jacob’s LAdder Award for community advocacy, as well as Legal Aid’s Advocacy Award. She and her husband Howard were named Community Champions by Deliver the Dream and one of South Florida’s Leading named Community Champions by Deliver the Dream and one of South Florida’s Leading Couples by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

DON SILVER, Chief Operating Officer, is the co-chair of the firm’s Crisis Communications Practice. He brings 30-plus years of successful public relations and national marketing management experience as a corporate executive with companies such as Duracell USA, Forster Manufacturing and Park & Sun Sports. He regularly assists many of the state’s top entrepreneurs, corporations, nonprofits, schools and law firms with crisis planning, reputation management, public relations, marketing, community outreach and online and search engine marketing. Don is a frequent speaker, moderator and author on topics including: handling a crisis in your business, designing a crisis plan, dealing with traditional and social media under fire and maximizing Linkedin for your business development. He is also active in the community, where he has been chairman of the board and/or marketing communications VP in organizations such as NAIOP, Legal Marketing Association, Broward Partnership for the Homeless and Gold Coast Venture Capital Association. Current positions include the VP of Public Relations, South Florida Technology Alliance and board seats with Florida Bulldog and Legal Aid Service of Broward County’s Executive Council. He is a native Floridian and received his BBA in Marketing from Florida Atlantic University.

TODD TEMPLIN, Executive Vice President, has been in the communications industry for more than three decades as both a journalist and PR executive. He specializes in media relations, content creation, crisis communications/media training and business development. In addition to his traditional media work, he is also responsible for content marketing strategies for the firm’s clients which includes social media, blogs, web, video and other new media platforms. He also co-chairs the company’s crisis management division.

Todd is experienced in a number of industries including real estate, law, health care, retail/restaurant and professional associations. He has secured media placements in top-tier media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, CNN, ABC News, national trade publications, and Florida business and consumer outlets. He is often invited to speak to organizations and marketing professionals on relevant PR topics and has been quoted in various media reports as an expert in his field.

Before entering the public relations industry, Todd worked for 17 years as a broadcast journalist, both on-air and behind the scenes as a producer/newsroom executive. Most recently, he spent 10 years working at WPLG-TV in Miami and as a freelancer journalist for NBC and ABC networks. He also held positions in Detroit and Sarasota newsrooms.

Todd sits on the board of directors for the American Red Cross-Broward Chapter and Firewall Centers, a nonprofit that operates after-school tutoring and mentoring programs in Broward County. He’s also a past chairman of the Weston Business Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board and Executive Board of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, he was recognized as a Mover & Shaker by the South Florida Business Leader Magazine. In that same year, he and wife Kristi Krueger of WPLG-TV were named one of South Florida’s Finest Couples by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Todd is a passionate supporter of the University of Florida where he graduated with a broadcast journalism degree.

JENNIFER CLARIN, Vice President, specializes in media relations with an emphasis on legal, banking and finance, professional services and healthcare industries. Her extensive experience in these industries allow her to handle a variety of client needs ranging from case publicity, press conferences and crisis communications to trade show representation and product unveilings. Jennifer serves as BoardroomPR’s Law Firm Practice Management Team Leader. In addition, she is responsible for developing strategy and messaging in both traditional and social media outlets and managing her account teams and their operation. Jennifer is a past Chair of the Legal Marketing Association’s South Florida Chapter and serves on the boards of Jewish Adoption Foster Care Options (JAFCO), the Women’s Philanthropy Division of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and Margaux’s Miracle Foundation. In 2014, Jennifer was recognized by the South Florida Business Journal as one of its “40 Under 40.” She graduated with honors from the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations.

MICHELLE GRIFFITH, Vice President, co-leads the firm’s Central Florida office, working with clients across Florida and beyond in a variety of industries, including law, insurance, healthcare, nonprofit, real estate, statewide associations, and trade groups. She is skilled in managing high-profile media relations programs, statewide legislative and public affairs advocacy campaigns, and top-tier national news pitching. Michelle also works with clients to develop social media and web marketing strategies to elevate their online presence and search engine rankings.

Since joining BoardroomPR in 2006, she has been involved in several nonprofit associations and has played an integral role in generating media, community and legislative attention for organizations such as the Orange County Bar Association, Legal Aid Service of Broward County/Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida and foster children’s advocacy group Florida’s Children First. She also served as the chair of the Legal Marketing Association’s Orlando Local Steering Committee and currently serves as secretary. She is a graduate of the ATHENA NextGen 2017 class, a high profile Central Florida women’s leadership group. Michelle graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and a minor in Business Administration.

LAURA BURNS, Vice President, is based out of our Orlando office. She works with clients in a variety of industries including real estate, retail, technology, hospitality and non-profits. Laura began her career as a journalist at the ABC News affiliate in Miami, Florida where she was an Executive Producer. She covered major news stories that included two presidential elections. An accomplished journalist and PR professional, Laura is also an active member of the Orlando community. She is involved in the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, NAIOP Central Florida and the Legal Marketing Association’s Southeast Division. She was previously a mentor for Women of Tomorrow, a group that brings together highly accomplished professional women with small groups of at-risk high school girls. Laura graduated from Boston University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She was born and raised in South Florida.

ERIC KALIS, Vice President, works with clients in real estate, legal, banking and other industries. With more than a decade of communications experience as a business reporter and editor, Eric has extensive industry knowledge, digital media experience and news judgment, including substantial broadcasting, business development, public speaking and social media experience to offer BoardroomPR’s clients in media relations. Before starting his public relations career at BoardroomPR, Eric was a journalist for numerous leading publications, including the Daily Business Review, Miami Today and The Real Deal. Eric graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications.

Lauren Berger, Account Director, works with clients in a variety of industries including legal and professional services, luxury real estate, and finance. She has a strong background in broadcast journalism and specializes in writing and social media management. Lauren started her career at ABC and prior to joining Boardroom, she was an executive producer for WPLG Local 10 where she was responsible for overseeing reporters, news producers, and writers. With a 15 year career in TV news, she is an expert in news media and various social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. She also was an executive producer at WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach. Lauren graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in communications / political science from Florida State University.

FELIPE M. CALDERON III, Creative Director, works with a variety of clients including law firms, healthcare companies, nonprofits, hospitality companies, financial services firms, and commercial and residential real estate companies. Felipe is an international selling visual artist and graphic designer born and raised in South Florida. He studied new and contemporary media practices at Florida State University. In his role as a Creative Director, Felipe is in charge of video production, graphic design and website management. From cultivating campaigns, developing ads and marketing pieces to producing, shooting, editing and curating videos, he has produced high-quality, artistic and engaging content. Felipe began to refine his craft of design by marrying digital media practices and contemporary painting techniques to display beautiful, intriguing styles to express design.

Daniel Benjamin, Senior Account Executive, works with a variety of clients including luxury real estate, property management, law firms, health, and money management groups.

Daniel graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a minor in Leadership Development. While at the University of Florida Daniel interned as an event coordinator for LifeSouth Community Blood Center.

Before starting his Public Relations career at BoardroomPR, Daniel worked for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as a Public Information Officer. He has worked on many emergency eradication programs as a representative of the commissioner’s office and has worked cooperatively with local and federal organizations. He specialized in community outreach, business liaison, public relations, and communications. While working for the state, Daniel received his MBA from Florida International University with a specialization in International Business.

Social Media Manager

Ashley Kearns, Social Media Manager, leads the firm’s social media team in deliberate planning and goal setting, identifying target audiences, brand development, engagement and conversion strategy, and measuring and analyzing ROI. She designs and executes social media campaigns to optimize client goals and return on investment. Ashley weaves client news and information with the latest social media trends to create content that maximizes engagement, increases brand awareness and generates leads while maintaining a positive online reputation.

Ashley is responsible for developing and managing all social media campaigns for the firm and its clients working closely with management and account executives to integrate the right mix of social and digital with traditional PR. She also assists with media relations and event planning and execution.
Prior to joining BoardroomPR, she was the Jr. Account Executive and Social Media Manager for a boutique public relations agency located in South Beach. There she helped manage PR and social media for the firm’s lifestyle and hospitality clients, achieving national reach with the desired results.
Ashley graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s in Communication and a minor in Hospitality. At FIU, she was the Public Relations Chair for Alternative Breaks, a non-profit organization providing students an opportunity to create positive change in communities throughout the world, and a peer leadership consultant where she facilitated programs, workshops and team builders to enhance individual leadership skills for students, faculty and staff.

Hannah Colson, Account Executive, works with clients in a variety of industries including real estate, professional services, healthcare, law firms and nonprofit organizations.

Prior to joining Boardroom, she worked at The Agency at UF as a media marketing specialist, working with clients to execute paid digital campaigns on multiple social platforms and media outlets including Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn. She was also the president of Her Campus UFL, the campus chapter for the number one online magazine for college women.

Hannah graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a minor in business administration.

Mara Gordon works with clients in a variety of industries including luxury real estate, retail, legal and education services. Mara began her career in commercial real estate where she was responsible for various marketing initiatives. Prior to joining BoardroomPR, she handled all digital marketing and public relations efforts for an advertising technology company where she developed omnichannel marketing plans, procured media coverage and created online advertising campaigns. While attending the University of Central Florida, Mara was an intern for NBCUniversal in Burbank, California where she worked alongside the photography department. Mara has a graduate certificate in internet marketing from Full Sail University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in film with a minor in mass communications. Mara was a regular on the Dean’s List at UCF and was inducted into the Rho Lambda Honor Society.

ZOE HAUGEN, Multi-media/PR Specialist, works with a variety of businesses, firms, local government and nonprofit organizations in industries including real estate, law, and construction. She enjoys going live on Facebook at special events and creating and implementing strategic digital and social media content and campaigns.

Prior to joining Boardroom, Zoe worked as a producer for ABC News Network in Miami and a multimedia journalist for WAOW-TV, an ABC affiliate near Green Bay, Wisconsin.

While attending the University of Florida, Zoe was a brand ambassador for Promotional Brand Ambassadors, Inc., a writer and editor for the Florida Odyssey Online and a TV anchor, reporter, producer and photographer at WUFT-TV, a PBS affiliate and a radio reporter for WUFT-FM, an NPR affiliate in Gainesville. She also interned at WPLG Local 10 in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area and at Polhem PR in Oslo, Norway.

She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications and minor in political science.

She has generated significant results for many of the area’s top companies, law firms and nonprofits by listening to the clients’ needs, exploring the landscape and creating plans that achieve their goals. Her diverse industry experience includes banking, law firms, healthcare, nonprofit, real estate, high-tech, retail and internet companies. She is an accomplished writer and possesses the skills to promote clients in traditional and social media. She makes it a point to capture the essence of client messaging and her deep contacts within the media give her the ability to find the right outlet for her accounts. Caren brings a wealth of experience to her position, having worked in the public relations arena in New York. Caren currently serves on the board of directors for the Daniel Cantor Senior Center. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and was a Benjamin Franklin scholar.

Hayley has a background in entertainment, journalism, personal essay writing, and public relations. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Creative Writing and has also completed graduate-level coursework in College Counseling at Columbia University. She is a published author and has been featured in USA Today, Thought Catalog, The Daily Pennsylvanian, UWishunu, Glam, MarketingHQ, among others. Hayley has worked previously at Disney, Nickelodeon, Creative Artists Agency, and DIGA Studios, and started her career right here at BoardroomPR as a public relations intern.

HUGO H. OTTOLENGHI is a senior consultant to BoardroomPR. His areas of expertise in writing include residential and commercial real estate, construction, banking and finance, healthcare, law, technology, intellectual property, nutritional supplements, technology and baseball. Hugo plans and executes communication strategies that integrate traditional media, blogs, social media, and multimedia such as video production and editing, podcasts and photography.

Hugo began his multimedia career as a producer at the national TV news show, the Nightly Business Report. He then became editorial and research director for what is now bankrate.com. In South Florida, he managed real estate and banking coverage for the Daily Business Review while also serving as Palm Beach Executive Editor. At Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers, he directed business news and legislative coverage, and served as a writing coach to news bureaus from Jupiter to Sebastian. Hugo has coauthored two books and is a faculty member in the School of Communication + Journalism at Florida International University.
