Want to reach a lot of people in a short amount of time? A press conference may be the answer. Here are a few things you should consider when planning your next news conference.

Consider the Day and Time: Be sure you are giving the media enough time to deliver your message. Remember that news crews will need to go back to their office, write, edit and get the elements ready to go on the air in a timely fashion. Also the day of the week is important. Sometimes Mondays and Fridays are harder for news crews than mid-week days.

Consider the speakers: For example, if it is a law firm, do you want your client to be present? Will they be making a statement? In some cases, they may not want to go in front of the camera. These are some of the factors you need to consider when planning who will be speaking.

Have Visuals Prepared: Do you plan on handing out photographs or a press release? If your client is making a statement, have a few printouts to hand out after the event.  This is very helpful for news crews.

Create Your Invite List: You need to have an extensive invite list. You want to be sure to include not only all the local television stations, but also radio and print reporters who may find the information relevant.
