3 girls in front of Inbound conference signage looking excited

Why catch feelings, when you can catch flights — flights straight to Boston for the 2024 Inbound Conference, that is. This year was my fifth time attending this major social media conference, hosted by HubSpot, where BoardroomPR Digital Marketing Director Mara Gordon and I gathered valuable insights and strategies on the ever-evolving digital landscape.  Inbound covered everything from AI integration to creative strategies for maximizing marketing success. In this three-part series, we’ll break down the top insights from the conference, starting with AI.

The message around AI throughout the conference was consistent: No, AI is not replacing humans. That point came through loud and clear! But here’s what the marketing experts did stress:

  • AI for Acceleration: AI is now an integral tool for speeding up processes, handling discrete tasks, and transforming what’s possible in content creation. In fact, the most successful brands combine human insight with AI’s speed and data-driven capabilities. AI works for you, not with you.
  • AI in Content: AI can assist in content creation, but human touch remains critical in maintaining attention and personalization. Human-written content holds attention for 2 minutes and 36 seconds, compared to 1 minute and 21 seconds for AI-generated content.
  • AI as a Co-pilot: This one was one of my favorite points: Understanding and co-creating with AI is crucial. The balance of human intuition and AI capabilities can elevate creativity and efficiency. While AI enhances execution, humans provide creativity, strategy and empathy.
  • Training AI: Clear instructions and constructive feedback are key to improving AI outputs, much like training a human assistant. Context is vital for AI to personalize and accurately deliver content!

Now that you know AI isn’t coming for your marketing job, take a deep breath and enjoy the next installment of my recap in part two. 😉
