In today’s fast-paced media landscape, the news cycle moves quickly, and at leading Florida PR agency BoardroomPR, so do we. Everyone has information ready in the palm of their hands, which is why taking advantage of breaking news and current events can help give your business a big boost. Here at BoardroomPR, we understand that getting our companies the attention they deserve sometimes means leveraging big stories to position our clients as go-to sources. Here’s how we do it.

Strike While the Iron is Hot

We all know the makings of a ‘big’ news story. You see it everywhere with the ‘breaking news’ banner (usually in LARGE RED LETTERS so you don’t miss it!). It could be a legal story, involve a celebrity or be a major weather event. Either way, there are creative ways to involve your company in a story, especially when it is something everyone is interested in.

For example, when the Florida Great Outdoors Initiative recently started raising some eyebrows, BoardroomPR was quick to offer up long-time environmental attorney John Fumero, with the South Florida law firm Nason Yeager, Gerson, Harris and Fumero, P.A. This initiative proposed plans to turn some of Florida’s protected state park space into areas that feature more recreational amenities including lodges, golfing, pickleball courts and disc golf courses.

BoardroomPR quickly crafted a pitch that showcased Fumero’s experience and thought leadership on this matter and secured numerous Florida media interviews for him. The story was everywhere, so reporters were looking for as much information as they could gather, and Fumero fit the bill.

Take Headlines into Your Own Hands

Big stories quickly become trending topics on social media in Florida and beyond, giving businesses yet another opportunity to leverage current events. We use the algorithm to our advantage, crafting short blogs on hot topics to share on LinkedIn and Facebook. We also send eblasts to your customers and clients with relevant information on the big story.

When the FTC’s noncompete ban was blocked nationwide by a federal judge in Texas, BoardroomPR worked closely with our law firm PR client to craft eblasts on the topic for local businesses that might need to know what it means for themselves and their employees. We also worked with an attorney to help write an article on the topic that was sent to reporters that very day – and was published. The secret is that you must be ready to move quickly. The first person to offer up clear and compelling insight will be the expert most remembered.

There are so many creative ways to leverage current events. If you want to learn more about what we do here at BoardroomPR and the specific ideas we have to help bring YOUR company to the forefront, give us a call at 954-370-8999 or visit us online at BoardroomPR.com.
